Hi, I’m Milou
Traveler, planner-at-heart, and the person behind Milouwashere.
Originally from the Netherlands, I packed up my Dutch life and moved all the way to New Zealand. What started as travel turned into something deeper – learning how places really work, how to move through them with ease, and how to make a trip feel grounded instead of rushed.
I’ve spent the past few years exploring the world, mostly solo, sometimes with friends or family but always guided by curiosity. I’ve wandered into places I didn’t plan for, learned when to slow down, and discovered what actually makes a journey feel good rather than overwhelming.
Travel taught me quickly that seeing more doesn’t always mean experiencing more.
Somewhere along the way, planning became just as meaningful to me as the travel itself.
Not rigid schedules or box-ticking itineraries – but thoughtful routes, good timing, and space for the moments you can’t plan. The café you stumble into. The scenic detour you didn’t expect. The town you decide to stay in a little longer.
Especially here in New Zealand, where distances, weather, and timing really matter, knowing how to travel can change everything.
Honestly, I wish I’d had more help when I first started traveling.
There was a lot of trial and error. Overbooked days. Missed opportunities. And that constant feeling of “there has to be a better way to do this.”
Through years on the road – and now living abroad – I learned the ins and outs: how long things really take, what’s worth the effort, and when to leave space instead of filling every hour.
That’s where Milouwashere was born.

Services
Today, I create custom travel trips and ready-to-use guides for people who want to explore deeply – without spending weeks researching or second-guessing every decision. While my focus is now mainly on New Zealand, everything I make is shaped by years of global travel experience and real-world planning know-how.
This isn’t generic advice. It’s practical, lived-in, and designed to actually work once you’re there.
I plan the structure, so you can enjoy the freedom.
That means:
-
Days that flow naturally
-
Places genuinely worth your time
-
Optional cafés, walks, lookouts, and side trips
-
Space to wander – with backup options ready if you need them
I build trips the way I travel myself – especially here in New Zealand, where flexibility makes all the difference.
You’ll never be boxed in.
You’ll always have options.
